El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

4309 Kenilworth Ave
Bladensburg, MD 20783

“Fantastic food, friendly service”.  “Tasty and cheep.” ”So authentic.”   El Tapatio has been around a while and it harbors the location of one of the first and much loved Mexican establishments in the area, Cielito Lindo. The tacos are incredible. The goat is the best, slow cooked to perfection, while moist and juicy. On Friday nights, the place becomes a bumping Hispanic dance club.  Come out and taste real Mexican cuisine while having a great time!

La Fondita

4901 Decatur St.
Hyattsville, MD 20781

Also owned by the La Serentia folk, La Fondita is a great hole in the wall {7 tables}.  It is located in a former house in the residential area of Bladensburg. The menu is short with Quesadliias, tacos, Tortas and a couple of soups. The flavors are good for a great price and a huge amount. The lamb soup is excellent and the tacos are good and fresh.

Fratelli’s friendly servers deliver fresh Italian specialties and creative dishes.  Whether it is a relaxing glass of wine, a business lunch, a romantic dinner, or dessert and cappuccino after the show, you can be sure to receive excellent service and your meal will be prepared with great skill and care.

Mango Café’s selection of food is the perfect blend for Caribbean, African, Hispanic and American cultures.  The menu features foods from the islands like curry chicken and jerk chicken; food from Nigeria like Azun, Beer meat, and fish pepper soup; foods from the Hispanic cultures like queseldias and tacos; and lastly for  Americans, hot wings and mozzarella sticks! Come enjoy live music or a DJ while you enjoy great food!

La Sirenita is one of the best and most versatile places, a sort of roadside diner where the jukebox booms out Latin hits and the crowd of construction workers unwinds after a long day. There are terrific tacos; gargantuan meals-in-a-bowl; a roast quail with salsa verde; and a simple and satisfying shrimp with peppers and onions. Wash it down with a pitcher of melon, a cantaloupe drink, or horchata, almond milk spiced with cinnamon and sugar. (Washingtonian.com)

The Memorial Peace Cross is an area landmark that has become synonymous with the historic town of Bladensburg. The Snyder-Farmer Post of the American Legion of Hyattsville erected the forty foot cross of cement and marble to recall the forty-nine men of Prince George’s County who died in World War I. The first enlisted man from Prince George’s to die in the line of duty (WWI) was George B. Farmer.  The cross was dedicated on July 13, 1925, by the American Legion. A bronze tablet at the base of the monument contains the unforgettable words of Woodrow Wilson: The right is more precious than the peace; we shall fight for the things we have always carried nearest our hearts; to such a task we dedicate ourselves. At the base of the monument are the words, Valor, Endurance, Courage, and Devotion. At its heart, the cross bears a great gold star
